Newbold-on-Stour
with Armscote
Newbold-on-Stour is situation on the edge of the Cotswolds, straddling the Oxford - Stratford upon Avon A3400 road, just north of Shipston on Stour, and north of the Fosseway interchange. The parish comprises Newbold on Stour together with the hamlet of Armscote one mile to the west, new home building has increased the population to 700. Whist the church is the youngest of the Stourdene group it has some extensive history, including a Henge.
The church is dedicated to Saint David, the reason is that the patronage is vested in Jesus College Oxford a Welsh founded college. The church was built in 1833 when the parish was split from the Tredington Parish. It was restored in 1884-89 and the spire was removed in 1948.
We have recently undertaken a major project to install a servery, toilet and hard path. At the same time we have removed the pews which were a dangerous trip hazard, and replaced with chairs.
The church is open every day from 9am to 5pm and every Sunday for worship.
You are very welcome
